Overview
10 DAYS | COLOMBO • SOUTHERN COAST • WILDLIFE • RIVERS • ISLAND LIFE
Two nights in Colombo. Six nights by the ocean. One unhurried journey through the landscapes of southern Ceylon.
A journey created for travellers who would rather unpack once, settle into a beautiful coastal retreat and discover Sri Lanka through carefully chosen days out.
From the energy and heritage of Colombo to the beaches of the south, from a day among the wildlife of Yala to the quiet waterways of the Madu River and the cinnamon-growing islands beyond, this is Sri Lanka at a gentler pace.
Bandaranaike International Airport → Colombo → Galle / Southern Coast → Yala National Park → Madu River & Cinnamon Island → Bandaranaike International Airport
Colombo — 2 nights
Galle / Southern Coast — 6 nights
8 NIGHTS | 10 DAYS
Arrive in Sri Lanka and make your way to Colombo.
Settle into your hotel and allow yourself time to recover from the journey before beginning your discovery of the island.
The evening is yours to enjoy at leisure — perhaps over dinner overlooking the city or with a quiet first taste of Colombo.
Overnight: Colombo
Spend a relaxed day discovering Colombo.
Explore the historic Fort and Pettah districts, where colonial buildings, temples, markets and everyday Sri Lankan life come together.
Take your time over lunch before discovering another side of the capital through its galleries, cafés, boutiques or waterfront.
The afternoon remains deliberately unhurried.
Return to your hotel for your final evening in Colombo.
Overnight: Colombo
Leave Colombo and travel south along Sri Lanka's western coastline.
The city gradually gives way to tropical landscapes, fishing communities, palms and glimpses of the Indian Ocean.
Continue towards Galle and your coastal retreat, where you will stay for the next six nights.
Unpack. Slow down. Let the sea set the rhythm for the days ahead.
Overnight: Southern Coast
Today, there is nowhere you need to be.
Enjoy a long breakfast, settle beside the pool, walk along the beach or simply spend the day at your hotel.
The beauty of a slower journey is having time to do very little.
As evening arrives, watch the southern coast change beneath the setting sun.
Overnight: Southern Coast
Set out early for a private journey towards Yala National Park.
Leave the coast behind temporarily as the landscape changes from beaches and coconut palms to dry forest, lagoons and open wilderness.
Enjoy a safari through the park, with opportunities to encounter elephants, crocodiles, deer and abundant birdlife — and, with patience and a little luck, the elusive Sri Lankan leopard.
After your wildlife experience, return towards the coast and your hotel.
Overnight: Southern Coast
A completely free day to enjoy the coast.
Perhaps begin with a swim in the ocean, enjoy a leisurely lunch or indulge in a spa treatment.
For those who wish to explore independently, the surrounding villages, beaches and coastal roads offer plenty of opportunities for gentle discovery.
Otherwise, simply stay where you are.
Overnight: Southern Coast
Today, discover a quieter side of southern Ceylon.
Travel to the Madu River and board a private boat to explore its network of waterways, mangroves and small islands.
Continue to Cinnamon Island and discover the traditional cultivation and harvesting of Ceylon cinnamon, one of the island's most distinctive natural products.
The experience offers a glimpse into a slower, more intimate side of Sri Lankan life — shaped by water, nature and generations of local knowledge.
Return to the coast in the afternoon with time to relax at your hotel.
Overnight: Southern Coast
Take a leisurely journey to Galle Fort.
Walk through the historic streets of the old town, where Dutch-period architecture, ancient ramparts, churches, homes, galleries and contemporary cafés tell the story of a port shaped by centuries of maritime trade.
Enjoy lunch within the Fort before returning to your coastal retreat.
Your final evening is yours to enjoy beside the ocean.
Overnight: Southern Coast
Keep today completely open.
Return to a favourite beach, enjoy the hotel, take a final swim or simply spend the day doing nothing at all.
There is time for one last long lunch, one last walk along the shore and one final sunset over the Indian Ocean.
This is the luxury of travelling slowly — leaving enough space for the journey to become a memory.
Overnight: Southern Coast
Enjoy a relaxed final morning before your private transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your onward flight.
As the coast gradually disappears behind you, take one last look at the landscapes of southern Ceylon.
Your journey ends as it began — without hurry, with time to take in the island around you.
Departure: Bandaranaike International Airport
